Who remembers that cold, rainy day on April 9 when the Joes began their season? This game continued with the Joes up 5-1, top of 2nd, with one out and the bases loaded. Any thought that Sycamore had of getting back in the game was dashed as Mason began the game by hitting the first pitch and lacing a screamer to SS that scored a run. The second pitch found the same result as Mark drove in a run on a hard-hit grounder to 2B. Garrett followed with a grounder to SS that also scored a run, and Nick followed suit and drove in a run with a smash to 3B. Patrick got us started with a single in our 3-run 3rd which was followed by hits from Jacob and Matthew. Nick has decided that he will hit a round-tripper every game as he pounded another ball to the RC gap that allowed him to scamper home with another homer! Patrick, Jacob (3), Peter, Matthew (double), Mason, Mark, and Nick (2) had hits as ten Joes reached base. Patrick (3), Henry (2), Jacob (3), Peter, Adam, Mason, and Nick scored runs.
Matthew began the 2nd on the hill and he was as good as it gets - throwing 1 2/3 innings without walking a batter and giving up only one run. Jacob threw 1 1/3 innings - walked only two and also gave up only one run.
Defensively, Mason had a nice unassisted put-out from 1B and Mark raced to track down a fly ball in LF.
Another nice win as the Joes continue to play well despite no practice. We are 6-3 halfway through our season and are tied for 2nd place behind Norwood.
