Indian Hill shuts down Joes bats

With half the season in the books, the Joes were the top scoring team in the league! Our runs/game average of 11.33 led all teams and is a great tribute to the Joes practice in the off-season and their approach at the plate. However, on this day, the IH pitcher was just too good. He was definitely on his game but we look forward to another chance at him. In fact, as good as he was, the Joes' aggressiveness at the plate was solid, we just couldn't square up on many balls. You have to tip your hat to the opposing pitcher. In fact, we only had 6 K's the whole game. We just needed more "balls with eyes".

Garrett and Adam had the only hits and the only runs scored. Mark flied out to CF and Garrett had a liner to LF that was caught in the 1st. Henry reached base twice on walks.

Our pitching was good enough to win as Matthew hurled 3+ innings but was the victim of some bad luck and some errors. Peter finished with 2+ innings. They both pitched well, but we did not play our best defensive game.

However, some plays did stand out. Jacob caught a pop-up from his catcher's spot. Taco fielded a ball in RF and alertly fired to 1B to rob the IH batter of a hit. Mark and Mason both caught fly balls to the OF in the 1st to save several runs. Adam made a diving catch behind 2B from SS and also had assists on put-outs to 2B and 1B. The G Man fielded a pop-up from 2B, and Mark also had an assist from 2B.

This is a game that could have been closer at the end. The Joes have to continue to master the mental aspect of baseball so that we can play to the best of our ability. But they did stare down a quality pitcher and battle to the end.
