The Joes played their best opponent to date in this Deer Park squad. The final score does not indicate how close this game was until the last inning. Peter, Matthew, and Patrick all toed the mound and stared down this great hitting squad. They threw strikes and did just what we teach them to do. Lots of Deer Park hits found holes but our kids battled the whole game.
In the field, Hans and Garrett caught pop ups in the 1st and Henry ended the inning with a nice unassisted put out from 1B. Garrett made two more nice plays in the 2nd to help blank the Deer Park squad in that inning. Adam made a SS to 2B put out in the 3rd, and Jon Jon again flashed his leather by snaring a screaming liner to CF to end the inning. We caught a runner stealing in the 4th behind a great throw by Hans from his catcher's spot!
Patrick was on base 3 times with 3 walks, Matthew had a hit, Jacob got on base twice with walks while Mark, Hans, Peter, Taco, and Mason all got on base. Runs were scored by Patrick, Adam, and Jacob (2).
A good effort against a very good team that played very well. We would like another chance at this team!
