After a tough loss, the Joes found themselves right back on the field against a team that beat them last year and a team that also beat the other Madeira team this year! This Indian Hill team came to town hungry for a win but the Joes showed them how to protect home field as they hung on for a 6-4 win! Up 6-0 the Joes seemed on their way to an easy day bit the scrappy Indian Hill squad fought back to post 2 runs in the last inning and had the tying runs on base when the last batter scorched a liner up the middle. Never rattled, the G Man stuck out his glove from the mound to keep the ball from finding CF. His effort directed the ball to Adam who aggressively charged the ball and threw a laser to 1B for a game ending put out! What a nail biter!
Adam started on the hill and threw 2 1/3 innings giving up only 2 runs walking only 2 batters. Matthew came in firing and threw an outstanding 1 1/3 and the G Man closed it out in the 5th.
The D shined all day as Adam got things started catching 2 pop ups from the mound in the 1st - the second a diving effort! Hans ended the inning catching a pop from 3B. Hans again made a put out to start the 2nd, and made another great play in the 3rd - ending the inning by snaring a grounder and firing to 1B!
Offensively, Matthew, Adam, Garrett (a double), and Mason all had hits and runs were scored by Patrick, Matthew, Adam (2), Peter, and Garrett.
For the first time ever, Our HOMER wrist bands were given out without a vote. An executive decision was made to honor our two returnees from the DL who are both back to 100%. Both Mason and Jacob were awesome teammates while on the DL - supporting their team and keeping great, positive attitudes even though they could not play in the games. We welcomed them back by bestowing them both with the coveted wrist bands. IT'S GREAT TO HAVE OUR FULL TEAM BACK!
