Joes start and end fast - and the middle was pretty good too!

In a season with several close games, the Joes decided to get this one over early. With 4 runs in the 1st, 3 in the 2nd, and 4 in the 3rd the Joes got an early lead and kept at it on their way to a 17-3 win.

Obviously, the bats did most of the talking as Patrick, Matthew, and Hans all had multi-hit games. Mark had a big double, Adam had a solid single, Garrett pounded out a hit, and Taco laced a single down the left field line. There was some heavy breathing on this muggy night as runs were scored by Patrick (3), Mark (3), Matthew (3), Mason, Hans, Jacob, Henry, Garrett, Jon Jon (2), and Adam. A flat out offensive explosion!

Not to be outdone, Patrick and Garrett combined for 5 innings of 3 run baseball - outstanding mound work. Patrick had a rough first inning, but showed the grit and heart of a champion as he bounced back for lights-out innings in the 2nd and 3rd. In fact, all 6 outs in those innings were K's. Nice job Patrick! Garrett enjoys the closer role and he excelled in this game throwing 2 innings of no run baseball.

There were two defensive highlights. In the 4th, the Joes booked the old 9-3 put out as Matthew in RF snared a ball that found the outfield and threw a laser to Jon Jon waiting at 1b for the out. WE LOVE THOSE HEADS UP PLAYS!! And the last 2 outs were recorded on a strike-out/throw 'em out as Garrett got the K and Adam threw a missile down to a waiting Mark at 3B to nail the would be base stealer. An excellent ending to a great game!
